Full-Time Data Analyst

Reports to:  Senior Director of Operations

Summary of Position:
As a member of the data team, the Data Analyst will support the fundraising goals of the Bloomsburg University Foundation and contribute to the success of the University’s next capital campaign. The Data Analyst is charged with assigning and continually reassessing effective segmentation to the constituent base for direct response marketing and major gift pipeline, and building systems to flag constituents as they enter new segments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Gathers, filters and segments data sets for the purposes of identifying, classifying, and refining rated prospect lists and pools for fundraising activities.
  • Analyzes data to create constituent segmentation for effective direct response marketing appeals
  • Supports efforts to personalize direct response marketing efforts through data collection, mining and analysis
  • Synthesizes information and disseminate results through data visualization and reports
  • Responds to urgent or time-sensitive requests with high quality analyses and reports
  • Stays abreast of current and emerging trends in philanthropy, fundraising, and business intelligence
  • Supports advancement services in prospect research and profile development as needed
  • Supports the direct response marketing team with performance analysis and predictive analytics for solicitation appeals
  • Supports the major gift team and ongoing prospect identification and qualification
  • Provides evaluative and consultative services for optimizing fundraiser portfolios
  • Determines, records and scores attributes of prospects and donors to enable analysis
  • Works to support an organizational culture of philanthropy
  • Builds relationships with colleagues to better understand their work as well as prospect research or data analysis needs

Minimum qualifications, knowledge and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Information Technology preferred, or commensurate experience
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in data analytics and/or prospect management
  • Mastery of the APRA skill set; demonstrated proficiency data analysis and data visualization
  • In-depth knowledge of data mining tools, such as R, SPSS, Tableau required
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Knowledge of process, ethics and policies of professional fundraising
  • Knowledge of University/Foundation organizational structure, policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Physical Conditions:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Physical demands are modest
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required for keyboarding
  • Occasional travel to other university offices and activity sites
  • Speech, visual and hearing abilities that are sufficient to read and view written materials and effectively communicate and interact with staff in person and over the telephone
