Support Computer Science at Bloomsburg University

Support Computer Science at Bloomsburg University

Throughout my time at BU as a computer science major, I have had the opportunity to connect with faculty members on a personal level who helped me to reach my full potential. I was also given the opportunity to share that inspiration and knowledge with high school students from surrounding communities through the annual BU High School Programming Contest.

These experiences, along with the education I’ve received as a computer science major have led directly to me being offered a full-time position working in IBM’s artificial intelligence platform in Raleigh, NC, which begins immediately after I graduate in December!

By supporting the computer science department, you will increase academic and experiential learning opportunities for more students like me. You will help support the department’s growth, and your gifts will make a difference in the lives of current BU students.

Your Gifts Make a Difference

Two teams from Bloomsburg University’s Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) student chapter competed in a test of computer programming skills at Stockton University this past fall. The contest was part of the CCSC-Eastern Regional Conference, which featured 19 teams from schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Your contributions allow us to send talented computer science students to programming contests and conferences each semester.

Your support can help students to pursue internships that allow them to get real-world experience and a glimpse into a future career path. Students like Riley Renn, a senior computer science and digital forensics major, who interned with the Department of Defense.

Support from donors also helps our digital science majors to make an impact in the community. Bloomsburg University’s Regional STEM Education Center recently hosted roughly 100 Junior Girl Scouts from 21 regional troops for its first-ever GI-STEM: Girls In Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Day, where the scouts explored the world of STEM through 11 different hands-on stations directed by early childhood education and exceptionality majors, along with the Computer Science Club.

On behalf of all computer science students at BU, thank you for supporting our education and our dreams. We appreciate your support, and we are doing our best to make Husky alumni, friends and supporters proud!
