When you make a gift of $1,867, you become a leader among
BU Donors and an inspiration much like our University’s founder.
YOU ARE LEADING THE WAY BY INVESTING IN OUR COMMUNITY.
By becoming a Carver Scholar, you are not only showing broad support for Bloomsburg’s mission but also making an investment in the future of students and the faculty and staff, demonstrating your extraordinary commitment to our University by making it a philanthropic priority each year with an annual gift of $1,867 or higher.
Stories
We worked with the Foundation to make a gift that fit best with us and where we were financially. It also allowed us to set up our scholarship so we could inspire the recipients to push themselves to become leaders too.”
Greg Bowden ’01
Zeigler College of Business
For Greg Bowden, and his wife Jen ’02, giving back to BU has been a priority since they graduated. And they have been giving back as leaders in the Husky community ever since. In 2016, they increased their giving and became Henry Carver Scholars to help create the same life-changing opportunity they had at Bloomsburg for students today and in the future.
Why 1867?
The number 1867 has great significance at Bloomsburg: it is the year Henry Carver, our University’s first president, laid the foundation for the building that bears his name. In appreciation, Carver Scholars receive BUF’s most prestigious annual recognition for their leadership gifts made through the University’s annual fund.
Stories
When I learned I could make a gift that would benefit students and make a difference right away, I couldn’t wait.”
Ayana Bennett ’10
College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities
Ayana was inspired to make her first gift when she saw a story about her friend and classmate, Kimberly Abney ’09 and how she established her own scholarship by giving $1,000 a year and adding Bloomsburg to her estate plans. As soon as Ayana met her the first recipient, she increased her annual gift to $2,000 a year to support a second student. She also became a Henry Carver Scholar.
