Two New Members Welcomed to BU Foundation Board

Stephen "Steve"Jones ’83, and Charles "Chuck" Murphy '83 M '86 have joined the Bloomsburg University Foundation Board of Directors.

Stephen J. Jones received his BSBA in Economics from Bloomsburg University's College of Liberal Arts in 1983. He went on to earn his MBA from Temple University (1988), and his JD from the University of Pennsylvania (1989).

Stephen is currently employed as the President and CEO of Covanta Holding Corporation in Morristown, New Jersey. Covanta provides sustainable waste and energy solutions by using waste to generate clean, renewable energy.

Before Covanta, Stephen worked for Air Products. He joined Air Products in 1992 as an attorney in the Law Group, and in 2001 he was transferred to California where he was named California area manager for Tonnage Gases with responsibility for the company's hydrogen activities on the West Coast. In 2011, Steve was appointed China President, based in the company's office in Shanghai and was a member of Air Products' Corporate Executive Committee.

Stephen is married to Melanie Sanchez-Jones, and the couple have two sons, Alex and Zac. They reside in Bethlehem, PA.

Chuck Murphy

Charles J. "Chuck" Murphy (pictured right) received his BSBA  in 1983 and his MBA in 1986 in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University's College of Business.

Since graduation, Chuck has held several professional membership positions with such places as the University Health System Consortium and the Healthcare Association of New York State. Chuck is recently retired senior associate vice president for Human Resources at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.  

In addition to his role with the University of Rochester and BU's Alumni Board, Chuck is also a member of the TIAA-CREF Advisory Council, the Career Development Services and the Workforce Investment Board of Monroe County. He has also served as a Trustee (2005 - 2010) for Regis University.

Chuck and his wife Kathleen reside in Maceon, New York. The couple have two daughters, Shannon and Erin.
