Supporting Dreams

Lauryn Washington '22 - Nursing Major

Lauryn Washington, a native of Hershey, PA has learned a lot about giving back to the community and the importance of philanthropy by watching her parents who work as houseparents at the residential Milton Hershey School.

This has given her the opportunity to see how rewarding it is helping others. Her parents specifically work with elementary age boys, which means they can have up to nine children staying at their home at a time.

"I am so thankful to my parents for instilling this work ethic in me." says Lauryn "It has shown me the importance of helping others by working hard and that's what inspired me to become a nurse."

Lauryn is equally thankful to the donors who have supported her through a scholarship that will allow her to pursue her goal of becoming a nurse with a degree from one of the top nursing programs in the country.

"I am attending BU as a Nursing major and aspire to be a pediatric nurse in the future," Lauryn adds. "With this scholarship, I am able to achieve my dream of becoming a nurse while also growing as a person. Thank you for supporting my dreams."
