Arlene's Legacy

Arlene Superko ’45 understood firsthand the transformative power of a Bloomsburg education. Throughout her life, she remained deeply grateful for the opportunities her degree provided and was committed to helping future generations of students achieve similar success.

“I started to save up some money after many years working as a teacher thanks to my experience at Bloomsburg, so I thought I should do something to give back,” Superko once said.

In 1982, 37 years into her remarkable 55-year career as an educator, Superko began making annual gifts to Bloomsburg and continued her support long after retiring from the New York school system in 2000. During retirement planning discussions with a financial advisor, she discovered another meaningful way to make an impact.

In 2013, Superko secured her own Bloomsburg legacy by naming the university as a beneficiary of her life insurance policy and establishing the Arlene Superko ’45 Scholarship to support students pursuing careers in mathematics and science.

“My hope is that this scholarship will encourage students like my younger self to excel to their fullest potential,” Superko said.

Today, her generosity continues to open doors for students, ensuring that her commitment to education and student success will be felt for generations to come.
