Maggie went home for her first spring break and didn’t return to campus for almost a year due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Just before the pandemic, her dad lost his job of more than 20 years. It was going to be hard for her parents to help pay for her education. Thankfully, she received scholarships that helped her stay on track. Because of her scholarships, she didn’t need to work during the semester.
"That helped me focus not only on my academics and keep my grades up but also helped me find a job as a substitute teacher during summer and winter breaks," says Maggie. "My scholarships also helped me by offsetting the costs of clearances, basic skills tests, and certification exams that all Education majors need to take to complete our degrees."
